Top Tips for Getting Ready Photos
I love capturing wedding mornings, it is the beginning of the wedding story full of excitement, nerves and anticipation. It can go by in a whirl which is why I always suggest having photography coverage and having a plan. These are my tips on how to ensure you enjoy the morning and end up with fabulous photos!
Lighting- Natural light is key to beautiful photos and your make- up artist will also be in search for a space near a window. So open the curtains/blinds and let that sunshine pour in.
Details- It can sometimes feel a little bit chaotic during a wedding morning so it is a great idea to get organised. I recommend collecting special items together and having them ready for my arrival. Adding the following items to your wedding shoe box is a great idea; perfume, a spare invite, jewellery, keepsake/memories. This way I can arrive and start photographing these little details without interrupting you too much.
The Dress- You may have somewhere in mind for a dramatic dress photo but if you don’t then don’t worry I will find somewhere. It’s always a plan to have a pretty hanger on hand to really showcase your dress.
Flowers- I love incorporating your bouquets in the detail photos. I sometimes take the flowers outside for their own shoot (I am obsessed with flowers so they will be a main character on the day!)
The Big Reveal- Over recent years I have captured many reveals… the first time your bridesmaids see you in your dress or the first time your Mum/Dad see you. These are always emotional so have tissues at the ready. I will check with you to make sure who has/hasn’t seen your dress as I do not want to give away any spoilers!
Food, Drink and Good Vibes- Remember to enjoy it! The wedding mornings that feel the most fun are the ones that have a great playlist, lots of snacks and a present relaxed bride. It’s the time to enjoy being with your family, your girls and be excited for the day ahead. Simple really!
